Bangkok Transit Cards and Payments: Rabbit Card and Contactless Cards
In Bangkok, each line has a different operator, so there's no single transit card for everything. For a short trip, single-journey tickets and a contactless card are all you need.
BTS (Skytrain)
- Rabbit Card: A BTS-only stored-value card you can buy at station ticket offices by showing your passport.
- On a short trip, you can also just buy single-journey tickets from station vending machines.
- Check the signs at the station gates to see whether contactless credit cards are accepted.
MRT (Subway)
- You can tap a contactless credit card such as Visa or Mastercard right at the gate, so there's no need to buy a separate card.
- Single-journey tickets come as coin-shaped tokens.
Airport Rail Link (ARL)
- Runs from Suvarnabhumi Airport to Phaya Thai Station. Buy tokens at station counters or vending machines.
